Learners are provided with a course workbook and media on DVD. Using
a computer to complete assignments is optional and not required.
Credit

Course description
Discover what a powerful tool children's literature can be to help address complex and challenging issues children experience. This video-based course teaches how to present selected books in a guided manner to acknowledge children's issues, address classroom behavior problems and nurture empathy for diverse needs and cultures. you will recieve book recommendations and practical follow up strategies for working with children from 3 to 11 years. Topics include: how to share, making friends, aggression, disabilities, divorce, addiction, poverty and homelessness.
Video demonstrations for this course were captured documentary style in a variety of classrooms and care settings. The sample video clip highlights reasons why some children experience rejection from classmates. Other scenes will help you consider how recommended books can help children feel acknowledged and understood and enable them to explore strategies that respond to experiences similiar to their own.
