Parent Education

Many of our videos are used for parent education and for staff development. Fourteen videos are available in Spanish.

First Steps series
Supporting early language development

(in English or Spanish) Birth to three years
Four videos that have been called a complete language training program for parents and early care and education staff working with children, birth to three. These videos teach how to support language acquisition and model responsive, connected adult-child relationships that are the foundation for all development and learning. Each program includes a 20-minute teaching video, produced in short segments for optimal flexibility, plus footage for practice exercises that are keyed to the facilitator's material.

The Parent Education Collection
Support for children with language delays and disorders

(in English or Spanish) Two to eight years
Five videos gently model, teach and encourage parents. Topics include: how and why to engage with and talk to children to help them acquire language, how to support play and learning and how and why to read aloud every day. Programs are produced in short segments for flexibility in presenting in workshops and uses in mentoring and home visits.

Connecting with Every Child

(in English or Spanish) Three to eight years
This video, from the Reframing Discipline series, can be helpful in showing families strategies that foster strong relationships. The series is primarily for staff development, but is often adapted for use with families.
